We are pleased to inform that six of our researchers found themselves among the awardees of NCN OPUS 16, SONATA 14, PRELUDIUM 16 call for proposals.


Maciej Figiel, PhD, DSc received funding for implementation of the OPUS project entitled "Discovering disorders of brain development in Huntington disease as a consequence of putative total huntingtin deficiency in HD, using juvenile HD iPSC and fused brain organoids".

Paweł Bednarek, PhD, DSc received funding for implementation of the OPUS project entitled "Impact of subcellular localization on the specificity of selected enzymes involved in the biosynthesis and metabolism of bioactive sulfur-containing compounds from Brassicaceae plants".

Takashi Miki, PhD received funding for implementation of the OPUS project entitled "Mechanisms and developmental roles of transcription termination".

We regret to inform that on March 30, Professor Bożenna Golankiewicz passed away.

She has been associated with our Institute since its establishment, for many years she served as Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs; she was a founder and a long-time head of the Laboratory of Nucleoside Chemistry.

We have lost an eminent scientist, a person of great heart, a great Man and Friend.

We express our deepest sympathy to the family of Professor Bożenna Golankiewicz.

The funeral ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 14.00 at the cemetery in Kiekrz.

We are pleased to inform that the proposal submitted by Dr Lucyna Budzko within the LIDER IX call for proposals, announced by the National Center for Research and Development (NCBiR), has been selected for funding. Dr Budzko will be carrying out research at the Institute, concerning the use of AID/APOBEC enzymes for mapping the modifications of cytosine in nucleic acids.

The purpose of the LIDER Program is to support the development of researchers, particularly young investigators at the onset of their careers, in terms of enhancing their competence with regard to planning, managing and heading a research team, through implementation of research projects.

On July 1st, 2017, Dr. Jacek Kolanowski initiated the implementation of the HOMING research grant, entitled: “MultiGATE: dual-analyte responsive fluorescent probes for a real-time multi-parametric sensing in cellular models” at our Institute. The aim of the project is to synthesise, characterise and validate small-molecule fluorescent probes for visualisation of pairs of analytes (so called dual-analyte fluorescent probes) in living cells, which will be used to reliably map biochemical parameters of cellular models of different types and/or  stages of prostate cancer.

The HOMING program, established by the Foundation for Polish Science, is co-funded within the Smart Growth Operational Program (POIR).

We are pleased to inform that Prof. Ryszard Kierzek (IBCH) together with his long-term scientific partner, Prof. Douglas H. Turner (University of Rochester), are the winners of the second edition of the Poland ? U.S. Science Award. The award is granted jointly by the Foundation for Polish Science and the world?s largest general scientific association ? the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The award ceremony will be held on November 15 in Warsaw. It is worth to note that the first winner of the Award was another scientist from our Institute, Prof. Mariusz Jaskólski (together with Prof. Alexander Wlodawer).

This summer IBCH PAS took actions to obtain the European research grant, under the https://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/portal/desktop/en/opportunities/h2020/topics/widespread-04-2017.html call for proposals, within the Horizon 2020 Framework Program. Our goal is to establish the European Systems Medicine and Biology Center "EuMeBioS".
The first stage of the procedure in Poland was about taking part in the call announced by the National Center for Research and Development (NCBR), aiming at a preselection of those projects in which NCBR will participate as the Coordinator. Only 7 out of 17 proposals submitted nationwide were positively evaluated by the panel of experts. It is our great pleasure to inform that the proposal put forth by IBCH PAS also belongs to this group.
