A chemical synthesis of nucleic acids fragments and their analogues is a main objective and tool used in the research performed in the Laboratory of Bioconjugate Chemistry. Fran-cis CRICK once said "DNA is such an important molecule that it is almost impossible to learn too much about it" (1979). This sentence can be easily regarded as a motto of scien-tific activities in the Laboratory of Bioconjugate Chemistry in which all efforts aim at syn-thesising and studying nucleic acids fragments and applying the accumulated information into practice, as well.
The main interests focus on the search and studies of properties of oligonucleotides and proteins with desired properties derived through extensive use of approaches offered by combinatorial chemistry.



The main activities fall into several groups:

  • Chemical synthesis of oligonucleotides and their analogues;
  • Analysis of properties of oligonucleotides and their analogues using methods of combi-natorial chemistry;
  • Synthesis and analysis of semi-synthetic combinatorial libraries of antibodies using phage display approach;
  • Analysis of combinatorial problems related to DNA sequencing by hybridisation (SBH).
